I signed up to Twitter in 2007 but did not really use it until the end of 2008. It has been very important in helping me to connect with people I would never normally have managed to connect to including new clients, journalists and broadcasters.

I use a mix of clients to use it including Tweetdeck, DestroyTwitter and my current favourite, Hootsuite. I have just started using Ping.FM to join up all of my other social media accounts too.

Just to back up Jackie Plage’s point about http://identi.ca – I actually found out about Hull Digital through Jackie on Identi.ca

I’d done an all-points-bulletin on Twitter to find a Hull network, but it was my first day on identi.ca that actually delivered the goods on this occasion.

1) Yes, have been tweeting since April 2007, although I have a love/hate relationship with twitter sometimes.
2) Twitter name is jackieplage
3) I use it for all sorts of things – to communicate with friends, to make new contacts, for updates on software and services that I use, and sometimes for tech news.
4) Usually twhirl or gwibber (a linux microblogging client).
