John Connolly

John helps businesses understand and use technology more effectively. He has extensive experience of setting up and successfully bringing to market specialist technology businesses. He has been operating in Hull for over ten years, originally working with a number of web start-ups and then starting a web development agency where he specialised in commercial risk management. Following this he was one of the founders of Element Interactive, the UK's leading technical DVD authoring house, specialising in interactive games and training tools. For the last two years he has been a director at StarGrange, developing and managing specialist technology projects across a broad range of platforms such as web applications, bespoke software, broadcast media, mobile phone applications and the iPhone. John Polling

John has been a web developer for just over ten years. Having worked with KPMG, McCann Erickson, Damiler Chrysler UK and the White Agency he now runs his own web development company, The League of Extraordinary Developers. He has worked on all sorts of projects ranging from small CMS driven websites to large web applications and has worked with most of the major web technologies including ASP.Net, PHP, Ruby on Rails, HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Jon Moss

Jon founded Hull Digital, Kingston Upon Hull's Digital and Technology community in January 2009, and also runs East Yorkshire's digital conference, HDLive. His company theappleofmyi helps brands, businesses and people be more successful online and has clients locally, as well as across the UK and internationally. He speaks regularly as a marketing / technology / online commentator at events and on the radio. He is a keen cyclist, skier, dedicated Apple fan and is apparently addicted to "nice gear". I'm a techie by nature and an entrepreneur by accident: I had a proper job briefly and didn't really enjoy it so I started my own business and have never had proper job since. My current business - www.singletracksystems.com - was started late 2009 with an old friend. Since then we've grown from two people to eight (soon to be ten) and recently raised private investment at a valuation that would have had us laughed out of the Den. Our future is not assured but in the face of the current economic crisis we continue to grow both our revenue and our customer base at a steady pace. Prior to starting Singletrack I founded a software development company - http://www.e2x.co.uk/ - that is still going strong after 11 years and before that I started a business in the dotcom boom that resulted in a dotcom bust … not a pleasant experience but one that taught me a huge amount about how not to do things. Simon has had a rich career spanning both the UK and the international health industry, with roles that have included quality system auditing, medical device development, international training (advanced wound management) and international marketing.
