The Hull Digital podcast launches
Better late than never, for your listening pleasure we have the very first Hull Digital Podcast!
Why?
There are a number of reasons for doing this, with one of the big reasons being FUN! Seriously, it’s great fun to do, and will be a learning curve in terms of professionalism, content and also the technology used for recording to provide the best quality.
Importantly it’s one of the first podcasts to cover all things digital and technology in Yorkshire (do let us know if there are any more), and will allow opinion, debate, ideas and chat to be published easily online.
Who?
The first podcast featured a few people who are involved in the digital / web / technology scene in the city. Major broadcasting experience was not required, although you will be able to detect this 😉
John Polling – theled – follow him on twitter here
John Connolly – StarGrange – follow him on twitter here
Stephen Lewis – Experience Internet – follow him on twitter here
Duncan McMillan – Art and Soul – follow him on twitter here
Jon Moss – founder of Hull Digital, HDLive and theappleofmyi – follow him on twitter here
We’re very keen to have other people on, and also to give a less Mac fanboy-bias to the show! If you would like to join us, please do get in touch, and we will try and work something out.
What?
This first episode covers:
– the Apple iPad
– Apple’s data centres
– Amazon and the Kindle getting worried
– Comics on the iPad
– Apps vs Web Apps
– iPad Pricing
– Do we need Flash?
– HTML 5 video
– That Flash blog post
– Digital Magazines

We realise we are very late in releasing this so the topics are not as topical as they might have been having released it 6 weeks ago!
Plans
Firstly, get it recorded, edited and released on time! Secondly, have guests on, either in the studio, or via Skype / phone. Lastly to mix up the people who are in the studio to get different view points and news!
Subscribing
We’re using a podcast plugin so with a bit of luck, you should be able to add the url below to your iTunes and you’ll be able to subscribe.
Just open iTunes, click on Advanced in the menubar, and select ‘Subscribe to Podcast’ and copy and paste the following url in:
Simple!
Please do bear with us while we get this up and running 🙂
We hope you enjoy it!
PS A massive thanks to Maria and Luke at the University of Hull for allowing us to use their studio and helping us with the recording.
